RE: Imran Khan
Maamu jaan, I want 'Sheila Ki Jawani'!
Source: Vaibhavi Risbood | Last Updated 23:29(17/05/11)

The search for an item girl in ‘Delhi Belly’ is getting interesting day by day. After Aamir and Katrina spoke their mind about the same it is now Imran Khan who too could not withhold himself giving his opinion. Surprisingly, instead of Mammu Jaan Immy seconds Katrina’s take on it.

Aamir is in search of an item girl for his home production and blatantly refused Katrina as an option by saying that ‘aap log mujhe joote khilvanewale ho’ hinting at Salman would not appreciate his approach. To which Katrina requested Aamir to have a discussion over it before taking any decision.

Now, Imran being one of the actors in ‘Delhi Belly’ the star has shown firm interest in Katrina as an item girl. “My vote goes to Katrina because of her jawani,” chuckles Imran.

Looks like, Imran doesn’t bother about remaining in the good books of Salman and is going Katrina way by speaking his mind.

RE: Imran Khan
Imran joins Salman, Shah Rukh and Amir

Mumbai

Imran Khan is seriously considering himself to be entering the big league. Though he is just three years and five films into the industry, he rightly believes that there is something common between him and the top Khans that ties them together. This happens to be the time period in which he brings a film of his to the audience.

“There is a reason behind Imran's 'Delhi Belly' coming in July”, informs a trade follower, “His biggest hits till date, 'Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na' as well as 'I Hate LUV Storys', had released in the first week of July. When Aamir and Imran realised this trend, they decided beforehand that 'Delhi Belly' too would be following suit.”

A source close to Imran says that he is serious about staking his claim on this slot in just the same manner as top Khans like Salman, Shah Rukh and Aamir who come at a designated time year after year.

RE: Imran Khan
Salman Khan gets the ultimate tribute in Imran Khan's next

Priyanka Srivastava and Sonali Joshi | Mail Today | New Delhi, July 15, 2011 | Updated 10:58 IST

[Image: imran-khan-salman-khan-230_071511111246.jpg]

They say imitation is the best form of flattery. And while Salman has been known to pay homage to veteran actor Dilip Kumar by impersonating him ever so often, his years in the industry have elevated Sallu himself to the position of a demigod for the newer crop of actors. And frontlining the list of admirers is none other than Imran Khan.

The Delhi Belly star, in his forthcoming film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, has tried to imitate many of Sallu's trademark dialogues and dance steps, if the movie's first promo is anything to go by.

In the movie, Imran's character is on the lookout for the perfect bride for his brother, and falls in love with his brother's fiancee (Katrina Kaif) when he meets her. In one of the sequences when Katrina says that it was not easy for a guy and girl to just run away, Imran replies with Salman's popular dialogue from Wanted, Ek baar joh maine commitment kar diya toh main apne aapki bhi nahi sunta.

And that's not it! Imran has also tried to simulate a few memorable dance steps of the actor in one of the songs of the movie, also imitating Salman's famous towelbetween- thelegs- step from the song Jeene Ke Hai Chaar Din from Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, apart from the beltpulling step from Dabangg 's title track.

Till now it was only the famous dialogues of Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar or Raj Kapoor, that were imitated by the younger generation. Now, that Imran is making liberal use of Salman's dance and dialogues, Sallu should consider himself a member of the league of veteran actors. Mere Brother Ki Dulhan also stars Pakistani singer, and Tere Bin Laden star Ali Zafar. The movie is the directorial debut of Ali Abbas Zafar.

RE: Imran Khan
Clad in brown trousers, a white tee, a fancy hat and brown-coloured beard, Imran Khan looks like a tourist from foreign shores. When this is pointed out to him, he replies, "At Salman's (Khan) bash at his farmhouse, he called his bouncers to enquire who I was!"

I'm excited about Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger. More than him doing a first film for Yash Raj, that too directed by Kabir Khan, I have a lot of friends working on the project as ADs, and the little bits of information that have been coming out have got me really excited.

RE: Imran Khan
Salman's hits don’t make Aamir smaller: Imran

Renuka Vyavahare, TNN | Feb 9, 2012, 12.00AM IST

Actor Imran Khan speaks on his competition in Bollywood

Imran Khan says it like it is. If Bollywood is full of insecurity, Imran is comfortable with who he is and at ease with the films he does.

On competing with Ranbir, Imran says, "If Ranbir's films are doing well, it does not affect me. Salman Khan has been giving huge hits but that doesn't affect Aamir's career. Everyone has a place of his own in the industry and I'd like to create one. I've heard Rockstar was phenomenal. I am glad it was."

Both Ranbir and Imran have been touted as superstars by Bollywood's most celebrated Khans: Salman, Shah Rukh and Aamir.

RE: Imran Khan
Imran Khan wants to interview Salman Khan

Friday, February 3, 2012, 10:06 [IST]

Actor Imran Khan expressed his desire to interview a senior Khan of Bollywood. If you think that we are talking about his maamu Aamir, you are definitely wrong. Imran wants to interview Salman Khan.

Imran also gives a vivid explanation to a leading daily as to why he wants to interview Sallu since the latter is rarely seen available for any interview. If he is in a good mood, he prefers to throw “one or two deadly one liners”, else he generally doesn't open up much.

Imran is also confident that he wouldn't act like the other journalists and would definitely make Salman at ease in his presence. Also, he doesn't intend to have a question and answer session with Salman, rather it would be more like a conversation

RE: Imran Khan
Why Imran Khan can never be Salman
Meena Iyer, TNN | Feb 13, 2012, 01.20PM IST

Imran Khan is constantly talking of how he is a huge Salman Khan fan. And for the time being Imran will remain just that.

He can not hope to topple the sitting Khan or his contemporaries Aamir and Shah Rukh because Imran has been giving very moderate hits.

For e.g. his latest film Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu barely managed a decent start on February 10.
The film's collections did look up on the weekend and EMEAT did get something to the tune of 18 odd crores over three days but it amounts to very little.

Salman as everyone knows managed to get something to the tune of 21.5 cr for one day for Bodyguard. Agneepath bettered this by a margin. However the important thing is that Imran who is looking to break into the top league

after the success of I Hate Luv Storys and Delhi Belly has a long way to go as far as matching the box office of the big three Khans go.

What his movies collect over three days do not match up to what a Salman can get in one day.

RE: Imran Khan
Imran denies saying he has an edge over Ranbir

Posted On Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 02:59:49 AM

[Image: 20120215201202150259569178bab747d_201202...iginal.jpg][/i][/b]

Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan are perhaps the best in the younger lot in Bollywood currently, and undoubtedly they are fierce rivals.

Since both of them started their career around the same time there are constant comparisons drawn between the two on the films they choose and, of course, their performances.

And recently, around the time of Kareena-Imran-starrer Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu promotions, when Imran was quoted saying that he has an edge over Ranbir because he can be romantically paired with Kareena whereas Ranbir can't, the controversial statement led to many tongues wagging. But, when Imran was asked upfront about it, Imran denied making the statement. "That is not my quote. Some one said that I can work with Kareena and Ranbir can't, and I merely said, "Yes, that is true."

"I don't make such antagonistic and aggressive statements. That is the fabrication of some eager journalist," the actor further said laughing. Coming to her co-star's defence, Kareena says, "Imran is too sweet a guy to make such statements. And I don't think there is an edge because everyone knows that Ranbir and I am brother and sister (laughs). So it is no big deal."

Quoted or misquoted, we don't know, but many movie-buffs definitely feel sad about the fact that huge talents and beautiful actors like Kareena and Ranbir who are known for their cinematic brilliance cannot be romantically paired in a film. What a pity.

RE: Imran Khan
'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu' going steady at box office

Mumbai: Though the film didn't register great opening numbers, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu did very well on Saturday-Sunday to make the numbers required. The tradesmiths are sure it's a plus movie and are hopeful about it faring well during the second weekend too.

Recalling the below average opening numbers at Rs 5.25 crore India net, trade analyst Komal Nahta says, "The general perception on Friday was that it wasn't possible for the film to do well. However, the collections picked up by 40 per cent on Saturday and another 10 per cent on Sunday. No wonder the numbers went up to Rs 7.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 8.5 crore on Sunday."

It is learnt that producer Karan Johar who spent Rs 36 crore on the Imran Khan-Kareena Kapoor rom-com has already recovered 60 per cent about Rs 21 crore from the rights for satellite, music and home video.

However, the movie hasn't registered as decent numbers in smaller towns and single screens. Delhi-based distributor Sanjay Ghai attributes it to the makers targetting the youth in urban India as their audience.

"Unlike the multiplex audience that has liked the movie, people in the single screens aren't getting it. The collections are just about average in the single screens," he points out.

Ghai points out, "Bombay, Delhi-UP, Punjab and Mysore are the territories that are getting the largest audience."

On the other hand, Hollywood films aren't having a great run at present. According to a multiplex head honcho, despite good reviews, Steven Spielberg's Oscar nominated film, War Horse didn't register good figures.

The trade is certain that the upcoming release, Ek Deewana Tha won't affect EMAET's second weekend in the theatres. "There's just no distinct buzz about it," they conclude.

RE: Imran Khan
Imran Khan turns to singing
Mumbai Mirror | Feb 24, 2012, 11.51AM IST

After Salman, Aamir and SRK, another Khan takes up the microphone

Kishore Kumar, Bharat Bhushan, Geeta Dutt - singing actors took over the silver screen in 1950s and 1960s Bollywood.

The trend revived when Amitabh Bachchan took to the recording studio to lend his voice to songs in his 1979 film Mr Natwarlal. Many actors have followed suit in later years.

After Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, another Khan boy is ready to exercise his vocal chords. Thanks to filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj. Mumbai Mirror has learnt that Imran Khan has lent his voice to what is being referred to as the 'street song' in Vishal's next project Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola.

The song penned by Gulzar has been sung by Imran and his co-star Pankaj Kapur. In fact, it has already been picturised as well.

A unit member revealed, "Imran is extremely excited about working with Vishal. The filmmaker too is fond of Imran. While shooting this sequence between Imran and Pankaj Kapur, everybody felt that the dialogues could be turned into a song."

And that's how the song was born. Gulzar had already written the dialogues and Vishal simply added music to it. The song has now been titled Jalegi Kaise.

Imran Khan annoys his wife

TNN | Mar 6, 2012, 12.00AM IST

Ask Avantika Malik which habit of her husband's annoys her the most, and pat comes the reply, "The fact that his head is always buried in his tablet computer!

no matter where he is - in the house, in the car, or on the set between shots, his head is buried in it. He is obsessed with it." All we can say is: Avantika, you are not the only wife in the world with that problem. But it is a good problem to have. So much better to have a husband addicted to a gadget than another girl, no? We can almost see industry wives nodding their heads in agreement.
