Abhishek does a Salman

By: Subhash K Jha Date: 2011-03-01 Place: Mumbai

To go shirtless in Dhoom 3, mommy willing
PS: Is beefing up in LA to look the part

If all goes well, and with his mother Jaya Bachchan's permission, Abhishek Bachchan would be taking off his shirt for the first time in Dhoom 3. For this, he has met two of the top physical trainers in LA earlier this week.

Says a source, "With the help of these two renowned trainers who have worked on the physique of a number of iconic Hollywood stars Abhishek hopes to build his self-confidence (read: muscles) enough to appear bare-chested on the screen for the first time in Dhoom 3." There's just one hitch.

Abhishek's mom Jaya is strictly against her son appearing bare-chested on screen. Until Abhishek convinces her that it's fine to do so no amount of muscle-power would persuade him to take the shirtless plunge.

At the moment he's in LA with with his fingers crossed. Says a source close to Abhishek, "Ash and Abhishek have taken some time off together in LA for various reasons.

Yes, he has met two trainers. They're flying back to India on Saturday night."

RE: Abhishek Bachchan
Dear Abhishek,

Please listen to your mom. Mothers know best, they say. She probably already saw what's beneath the shirt and decided its not suitable for public viewing. It's for your own good.

And shirtless Abhishek is sure shot way of me losing interest in whatever film that is.

Even in Dum Maro Dum, all the articles are talking about how short Deepika's shorts are in the item song. Shortest everrr in hindi cinema, they say. Either the producers have no confidence in the film, or the film has no substance if the length of Deepika's shorts is considered promotional material.

Rani Mukerji talks about Abhishek

By: The Hitlist Team Date: 2011-03-18 Place: Mumbai

We thought enough water had flown under this bridge, but apparently Rani Mukerji isn't ready to let bygones be bygones. She recently opened up about what went wrong between Bachchan Jr and her. She addresses the touchy topic where she wasn't invited for the Abhi-Ash wedding.

"The truth is that if a person chooses not to invite you to their wedding, you realise where you stand with the person. Poor guy has been married for many years, we should all move on. I will always have fond memories of working with him!" When asked why she and Abhishek look through each other at parties, Rani puts on her witty hat and says, "Do we? Maybe the lighting at the party was bad. I've no idea!" Get idea, Raniji!

RE: Abhishek Bachchan
Abhishek in Salman's footsteps

TNN | Apr 8, 2011, 12.22am IST

The new item number in Dum Maaro Dum has Abhishek Bachchan go Dabangg.

It seems like Abhishek Bachchan who plays the male lead in Dum Maaro Dum turned insecure of Deepika Padukone who is merely doing an item number in the film and not even a female lead. Deepika's item song Dum Maaro Dum has become such a rage that it has kind of outshined the entire cast of the film. So now Abhishek Bachchan has an item number specially designed on his character in Dum Maaro Dum .

A source associated with the film says, "Even though Dum Maaro Dum had a big hit in Deepika Padukone's remixed version of title song and did not need another promotional video for the movie, Rohan and Abhishek were keen to recreate the magic of Bluffmaster ". The Right Here Right Now music video from Bluffmaster starring Abhishek Bachchan was a big hit then and the team is now trying to revive the magic in Dum Maaro Dum .

So now Rohan Sippy has come up with another promotional video ' Thayn Thayn ' with Abhishek Bachchan. "The song is basically about Abhishek's character ACP Kamat in the film. It is gritty and grungy. While Right Here Right Now was a complete hip hop, cool video, the essence of Thayn Thayn is ACP Kamat", says the source.

However what's interesting is that Abhishek's cop look with trendy sunglasses reminds one of Salman Khan from Dabangg . Also both the characters are high on attitude. Whether it is a planned move or just coincidental, one can't overlook the resemblance.

RE: Abhishek Bachchan
Not enough firepower

Puri Jagannath drops Abhishek Bachchan from his next Hindi venture. Mumbai Mirror tells you why...

Posted On Wednesday, January 04, 2012 at 03:58:29 AM

Director Puri Jagannath’s Telugu film Businessman, starring Mahesh Babu, is up for release next week. And Mumbai Mirror has learnt that before the original could even hit the theatres, the director has decided to drop Abhishek Bachchan from the film’s Hindi remake - a project that had been planned in August 2011.

Puri Jagannath had earlier decided to cast Bachchan Jr in the lead role of a gangster who treats his work like an organised business. However, now the filmmaker has decided to drop the idea of casting the actor altogether. In fact, Puri, who had worked with Amitabh Bachchan in Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap, has decided to replace Abhishek with Telugu star Mahesh Babu.

Confirming the news, Puri said, “After looking at Abhishek’s recent track record, we realised it won’t be in favour of the film. He doesn’t have enough fire that the movie demands. I want to cast Mahesh Babu in the Hindi remake now. Though Mahesh is not too fluent with Hindi, it shouldn’t be a problem considering his increasing popularity.”

The filmmaker’s decision comes in the wake of his contractual problems with AB Corp, the co-producer of Bbuddah.... Mumbai Mirror on November 14, 2011, had reported how the co-producers had stopped answering Puri’s calls regarding the delivery of his contract.

Though the documents were posted to the filmmaker a day after the news appeared, the entire episode left Puri with a bitter experience. “That was also another thing that put me off. Though I am still a big fan of Mr Bachchan, the post-release experience was bad,” added Puri.

When contacted, Mahesh Babu’s manager said, “Yes, we have discussed the Hindi remake with Puri. But right now, we are focusing on the original version.”

Box office: Game over for 'Players'

By: Hiren Kotwani Date: 2012-01-10 Place: Mumbai

Poor opening will see the New Year's first big release bite dust at the ticket-windows, state trade experts

When No One Killed Jessica's release date was fixed as the first Friday of the year, in 2011, it raised eyebrows as the date was considered to be jinxed. However, the film went on to become a winner at the box office.

This year too, after Abbas-Mustan's Players was scheduled for release on the first Friday of the year, it was expected to give handsome returns at the box office. Ironically, the film's 'Go For Gold' tagline failed to strike gold.

Pegging the first three days' figures at about R 14 to 15 crore, Komal Nahta, trade analyst attributes it to wrong casting and very ordinary actors. "A thriller is usually fast-paced.

But the actors' performances are so lifeless that the pace doesn't come through," he says, adding that bad music and the 170-minute running time made it worse. He concludes that the producers and distributors together will lose about R 25 crore on the desi version of the Hollywood hit, The Italian Job.

"Ponty Chada, who acquired the India distribution rights for about R 32-33 crore, and those he sold the rights to, will lose about R 15 crore while the producers, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures will lose another 10 crore," he points out.

In the same vein, veteran trade analyst Amod Mehra adds that not many people went to see the movie. "Players just didn't grab the public's attention. The promotion didn't generate the hype and none of the actors have a decent hit behind them to draw a decent initial," he observes.

A distributor who is releasing the film in one of the territories in the country remarks, "Firstly, the cast didn't excite the audience. And secondly, for the first time in so many years, Abbas-Mustan have bad music in their movie."

Meanwhile, Hollywood seems to be having a better run at the ticket windows with Sherlock Holmes 2 continuing to do well.

Opening to about 70 percent occupancy on release on December 30, the Robert Downey Junior-Jude Law thriller registered decent numbers in the second weekend, netting over Rs 6.5 crore in 10 days.

Prakhar Joshi, programming head of PVR Cinemas, says, "The second Friday saw about 50 per cent occupancy, which went up to 60-70 per cent on Saturday-Sunday."

Now, all eyes are on Agneepath, the next big star release on January 26. "The film has generated tremendous hype, going by the response to Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt in the promos. And Katrina Kaif's Chikni Chameli has added a lot more spice too. In all probability, it will get a mind-blowing opening," echo the trade experts.

Abhishek Bachchan's fight with his fan on twitter

Monday, March 12, 2012, 12:28 [IST]

Actor Abhishek Bachchan, who has been an active user of twitter, for the first time gets into a fight in the microblogging site. Abhishek is miffed with one of his fan's comments on twitter.

A Twitter user @amit_scabal slammed Abhishek by calling him “no class” after the actor ignored him in London. He tweeted, “I may not be one to judge but mannerisms and the way you talk to people make me want to say that @juniorbachchan has no class. You forget.. Once you and your family were shopping in London, your mum a dad fabulous as they are, spoke to me greatly in knightsbridge..you ignored me.”

This angered Abhishek, who tweeted back, “@amit_scabal sir, for starters I don't think you're qualified to judge whether I have class or not. @amit_scabal and secondly, my job has almost nothing to do with "cutting mustard"!!”

He further tweeted, “@amit_scabal humbly, that's ur interpretation. You don't know me nor why I didn't speak to you. I don't ignore people. Possible that I might have been per occupied doing something else? A bit unfair of you to judge me like that.”

Well, Abhi's tweets reveal that he was very hurt by such rude comments by the user.

Beti B finally has a name

Tushar Joshi, TNN | Mar 14, 2012, 12.00AM IST

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had a baby girl on November 16, 2011. Four months later, she finally has a name - Aaradhya Bachchan.

There was a lot of curiosity and speculation about the name of the Bachchan granddaughter, but the family refrained from revealing her name.

She was christened 'Beti B' in the media for lack of a better name, and now that's a monicker that will stay with her for life. Aaradhya's name was registered two days ago. Remember, you read it here first!

Heard this?
Love on wheels

Amrapali Sharma

Posted On Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 02:03:24 AM

No ordinary beti, this… Ever since she arrived on November 16 last year, she has been hitting the headlines for reasons ranging from simply being born into Bollywood's first (and most famous) family to widespread speculation around what would be her name.

We had even suggested the Bachchans name her Abhilasha but as it turns out, Beti B has finally got a name — Aaradhya, which is Sanskrit for 'one who is worth worshipping — nearly four months after being born. Reportedly, the privileged baby's star parents Abhishek and Aishwarya registered the name just a couple of days ago. However in true Bachchan tradition, the world is waiting for an official announcement on that one…

That aside, Mirror has now found out that doting papa Abhi has gone right ahead and booked an Audi A8 for his baby girl. While he could have booked just about any series, he was keen on A since that is the alphabet with which his daughter's name begins. And, the cool wheels have cost him a cool Rs 1.50 crore. We are sure the car is just the beginning of greater things for little Aaradhya

Meanwhile…

Looks like B-town is on a car gifting spree, be it a present from father to daughter or producer to actor. Mirror has learnt that Karan Johar, fresh from the success of his recent hit Agneepath has gifted a Ferrari to Hrithik Roshan, who essayed the fiery Dinanath Chauhan in the film. We hear Roshan loves fast cars and Ferrari was the only one missing in his collection…

RE: Abhishek Bachchan
Salman and Abhishek meet up like buddies!

Tue, 2012-12-25 23:31

As we always say, no permanent enemies and no permanent friendships in Bollywood.

And one of the most notorious relationships of Bollywood had an interesting twist recently when Aishwarya Rai's ex-boyfriend Salman Khan and her husband Abhishek Bachchan came face to face once again at a party.

Industrialist Sunny Dewan and his socialite wife Anu held a party on Christmas Eve at their Bandra residence. And while the whos-who of filmdom was present including Akshay and Twinkle, Riteish and Genelia, Ranbir Kapoor et al, what really caught our eyes was the healthy conversation between Abhishek and Salman. Even after the party was over, Salman and Abhishek continued burying their hatchet into the wee hours of the morning.

According to what sources told Times of India, the two actors were seen having a one-on-one conversation in a quiet corner over a few drinks. Says a source, "Salman came in around 2.30 am, much after his best friend Sajid Nadiadwala had left the venue. In a flash, he put an arm around Abhishek and the two walked into a corner to chat." Their camaraderie was so positive, that onlookers were surprised to the core.
This isn't the first time we've seen the two being cordial to each other. And all in front of Mrs. Rai Bachchan, who maintained a distance from the duo throughout the party. This was sure a shocker!

Amongst other uncomfortable turned comfortable relationships were Gauri Khan who arrived alone, but Salman was cordial towards her. Ranbir, however, stayed away from ex Nandita Mahtani.

These pleasantries are sure going over our heads!
