Shah Rukh Khan

Surprised to find the adorable Khan on this list? Well we give you the reason why we have him here. News about SRK bad-mouthing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at Katrina Kaif’s birthday party had some grave effects. Not only did it spoil the beautiful friendship between SRK-Salman but also miffed the Bachchan’s (esp. Jaya).

Most recently, SRK got his fans disappointed when his IPL team, Kolkota Knight Riders, also one of the fave’s amongst cricket lovers, failed to perform well in the matches.

SRK in another controversy

The star is said to have shown Prophet Mohammad in bad light

By Buzz18 . Jun 16, 2009

Apparently Shah Rukh Khan has landed himself in a controversy yet again.

In an interview to a popular magazine, SRK has said to have shown Prophet Mohammad in bad light, reports bigoye.com. According to the report, the superstar has compared him to the likes of Hitler and others.

The interview has reportedly offended the religious sentiments of certain people from the community and they are demanding an explanation from the star.

At present SRK is out of India shooting for KJo's film My Name is Khan.

To jog your memory a little further, a few months ago, SRK got entangled in a controversy surrounding the name of his film. The name of his film Billu Barber was changed at the last minute to Billu.

Shah Rukh is known to make controversial statements. In an interview to a news channel a few months back, he had said, "There are two kinds of Muslims. One who believe in Allah and the other who believe in Moolah."

Someone has been known for making diplomatic statements, what has happened to him we wonder.

Pay to have dinner with SRK!

Find out what's exactly been happening in San Francisco

By Juicy Mausi . Buzz18 Jul 08, 2009

Well, yes. Finally you can have that dinner date with SRK. But hey, you will have to pay for it.

A little birdie tells me that SRK who is currently shooting for Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan in San Francisco is generating quite a lot of money by having dinner with his fans in the posh hotel he is staying.

Apparently, the hotel management after realising SRK's superstardom have offered their terms of agreement for holding charity dinners at the hotel.

Any fan who wants to have dinner with SRK present in the hall has to pre-book a table. Any fan who wants his picture taken with Khan has to pay an additional $250. And to sit on the same table with the star, one has to pay a little more. Whew!

And I hear, it's all for a good cause! The money that has been generated from the dinner wiil be donated to a charity.

Now, everybody talks about Salman Khan's generosity. Looks like SRK finally decided to give him some competition. Me however thinks, Shah Rukh has gone a bit too far with it. Maybe next time, he'll stick to this side of the Pacific.

Poor Little Rich Gauri

Sunday, 19 July, 2009

Is she on the verge of a nervous breakdown or is she just a bratty star wife?

From being fiercely private to being Bollywood’s biggest party animal – Gauri Khan’s recent uncharacteristic and irregular behavior has left her husband and friends shocked. So, what’s really going on with the gorgeous Mrs Khan?

Kicked out of London hotspot

Gauri Khan and friends were kicked out of famed London club Tramp, leaving lines of illegal substances and broken bottles of Champagne in their trail. Known for its infamous celebrity guests, the club is no stranger to nefarious activities, so the party of 10 must have been doing something seriously bad to have to be escorted out of the premises!

Partied till 7am at IPL without SRK

Despite her husband leaving South Africa mid IPL, Gauri decided to stay back and party till 7am every night with her four girlfriends. Fellow party animals were shocked to see that the usually reserved Gauri was letting her hair down on the dance floor, somthing no one had seen her do before. Masala! heard someone quipping, ‘We want what she’s on!’

Keeping bad company

From safe (and boring) K-Jo to wild (and bored) star wives, Bhavna Pandey and Maheep Khan and hot (and spoilt) south Mumbai IT girls Renu Chainani and Nandita Mahtani – Gauri has changed her company drastically in the past few years. SRK expressed how he did not approve of their group activities and was heard telling Gauri to ‘grow up and accept the responsibilities that fame comes along with’. His harsh lecture, however, fell on deaf ears as she made plans to go to with the same friends to Europe, Miami and then LA soon after!

Told SRK to ‘F*&% off’

When confronted about her irresponsible behavior and the fact that SRK was sitting at home playing video games with the kids, while Gauri was out partying and neglecting the kids, the latter lashed out at SRK telling him that he had no right to control her life and abused him. So angry was the actor that he finally threatened to leave for Mumbai with the kids if she didn’t get her act together!

Fed up of being the perfect mrs Khan

For years now Gauri has played the role of the perfect star wife – dressing and acting the part, being seen with the right people (only those who SRK approved of!) and building an image that she exploited and enjoyed at the time. She confided in a friend saying: ‘I am tired of living for the world of fans, I want to live for myself. Why can’t I?’

Breaking free or breaking down?

While many of Gauri’s friends believe that she’s just living life for herself, other’s are convinced that she is on the verge of a nervous breakdown!

Masala! verdict

Tired and fed up of playing the perfect celeb spouce, the allegedly bratty Gauri is trying to break free. A friend of the couple told Masala! “Gauri now wants to live life for herself. What’s wrong with living in the fast lane?” Nothing, we guess, as long as she’s got her seatbelt on and her hands firmly on the wheel!

Shah Rukh buys 20 million pounds apartment

July 20, 2009 12:30:03 PM IST
Sampurn, Bollywood Trade News Network

In his recent trip to London Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan has ended up finally buying the 20 million pounds apartment in Central London in the Park Lane area. It is the highest cost paid by any Bollywood star ever for a property in foreign land.

''It is a known fact that the King Khan likes to visit London every year for vacation with his family. He generally stays in the best of the hotels on his visit there, but for past few months he was eyeing an apartment in London's plush Park Lane area for himself, so that he doesn't have to stay in hotels every time. After going through many choices both him and wife Gauri ended up liking this particular place. But given its very high cost they took some while to take the final decision. Finally as he went there this time with his kids, even they liked the place a lot and he there and then decided to lock it forever.'' our source close to the Bollywood super star reveals.

Incidentally, SRK, apart from owning best star villa in Bollywood, also owns big properties in the UAE.

Bollywood will see the rapid rise of Saif'

Says astrologer BEJAN DARUWALLA who speaks on the future of Bollywood and some of its leading men to SOUMYADIPTA BANERJEE

SOUMYADIPTA BANERJEE

"Shah Rukh's time is getting over," Bejan Daruwalla minces no words when he is quizzed about who will be on the mantle next year. But he rushes to add that it will be another two years before the current Badshah of Bollywood vacates his seat.

"I respect his (Shah Rukh's) energy. He is multi-talented and a truly secular person and also one of the finest actors the film industry has been. But this is the wheel of life and your fate keeps on changing. So it is natural that you won't be riding on the crest at all times. The downward slope (of Shah Rukh's career) is about to begin," predicts Bejan.
So, who's replacing him? Well, Bejan has a joint first — Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan. "The film industry will see the rapid rise of this Khan (Saif) in the days to come. He was born on August 16. Ganesha tells me that this is the boy who's going to claim the throne of Bollywood. Aamir will keep on delivering for some years to come and will still be counted as a top actor concurrently," he tells.

What about the current crop of actors? Well, Bejan has his money on Ranbir Kapoor. "Over the next few years, you will see this guy coming up very rapidly. He will be one of the top stars in Bollywood in just two to three years. I feel that he will be the top actor in Bollywood after a few years," he adds.

Interesting article but doesn't seem very genuine to me. Plus they also mentioned that you need a US VISA if you are a British passport holder, I don't think that is true. You don't need a UK Visa if you have a US passport but not vice versa. Feel free to correct me but this is what I have heard from my british friends who had to travel to US and had to get the visa.

Re: The Official Shah Rukh Khan Topic!
^^ No, Aisha, they said you DON'T need a visa if you are a UK passport holder, which is why the U.S. guys were extra careful about people coming from London.

It seems more genuine to me than all the other previously published nonsense. It also explains, to me, anyway, why he had to get the Indian Consulate involved. He was in some deep doo-doo!

Re: The Official Shah Rukh Khan Topic!
sorry that was a typo, I meant to say don't need a US Visa, hence the rest of my rant, lol. As I said some of my friends had to go to Florida from London and they had to get the US Visa, while they were all British passport holders, but I would think that Sharukh doesn't have a British passport, and would certainly need a VISA to be in US. I am sure he went through a connecting flight. This is getting confusing.

The UK is upgrading to a new kind of biometric passport, and those who have the old kind of passport now need to get a US visa to go there. This is a new rule post 9/11, because before then UK was one of the many countries whose citizens did not need a visa to go to the US. They will continue to have that same (no visa required) status if they have the new biometric UK passport.

In any case, the UK passport isn't about SRK, but about the organizer of his show, whose name happens to be the same as one who is suspected of terrorist activities in London. It all makes sense to me. Smile

But anyway, I don't want to waste any more time on this idiot. I just wanted to point out that all his ranting and raving over his questioning was baseless, because the U.S. authorities did have a very good reason why they wanted to question him, and it had nothing to do with his name.

Jon Kaun?

Shah Rukh Khan and the controversy surrounding him and customs officials at Newark Airport have been the vocal in media world over.

The actor held a press meet too to clear the air about the whole thing and categorically said this was not a publicity stunt. But popular US television host Jon Stewart doesn't think so.

He poked fun at Khan calling all this hoopla by SRK, a mere publicity stunt. Then, he even went on to say that if Khan was Brad Pitt or Bon Jovi, people in the US would have recognised him at the airport.

This has however not gone to well with the various bloggers who have trashed Stewart's views on SRK.

Re: The Official Shah Rukh Khan Topic!
Shah Rukh Khan gets ridiculed on US television?

26 Aug, 2009 12:00 am ISTlRenuka Vyavahare /INDIATIMES MOVIES

The American press seems to be high on crisis management after Shah Rukh raised the issue of his detention in front of the Indian media. They are thus ridiculing SRK as their defence mechanism!

American political satirist cum tv host Jon Stewart on his show ‘The Daily Show’ mocked SRK by showing clips of American news channels which claimed that the custom officials at the New Jersey airport didn’t recognize the actor!

Jon further mocked SRK by saying the actor may have denied that it was not a publicity stunt for his forthcoming film ‘My Name is Khan’ but then the way he went on talking about it could make for a good emotional picture in itself.

Echoing Jon was Indian American journalist Aasif who sarcastically said, “Shah Rukh is the Hugh Jackman of Jaipur, Bruce Willis of Pondicherry, Tom Cruise of Mumbai and Brad Pitt of Bollywood, and have you seen his Om Shanti Om?

Omar Qureshi, Editor-in-Chief, Zoom tv channel strongly criticized Jon’s statements by saying, “Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Shah Rukh Khan were in Dubai for Planet Hollywood’s launch and Shah Rukh gathered more fans than the Hollywood superstars. Americans are used to laughing at others and making money out of it, they laugh at themselves too, and this is just one of those instances.”

Trade expert Taran Adarsh reacted to Jon’s statement by saying, “If you poke fun at SRK, it only shows how dumb you are! It’s like Americans asking you if Taj Mahal is in China or Italy! Most of the American press is dumb and the way they have been reacting to SRK’s episode is shocking as we give them so much importance when they come to India inspite of the fact that most of the Indians don’t know how Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise looks like.”

Mumbai Mirror’s Entertainment head Indu Mirani said, “Everybody should just move on as this issue has been blown out of proportion by both the parties. Bollywood has always looked up to Hollywood with a holier-than-thou attitude so it’s not their mistake that they don’t do the same. Everyone should just move on.”

All said and done we’d suggest one thing to Jon, he should actually see SRK’s films to know that he doesn’t deserve to be compared with any Tom, Dick and Harry of Hollywood.

Re: The Official Shah Rukh Khan Topic!
What SRK should learn from Kalam
By M J Akbar Sunday

A celebrity is blessed with good fortune in many ways. A reporter, for instance, has to search for news. A celebrity merely has to look into the mirror. Such self-obsession requires sensational amorality and phenomenal lack of judgment. Ordinary, guilt-obsessed mortals do not possess these virtues.

A celebrity must have talent, of course, but brains are useless without gall. It requires courage to fall irrevocably in love with your image. It must be dreadfully tense to watch each step you take with such missionary commitment, but the rewards are probably worth the effort. The tiniest twitch now resides beside perceived, or stolen, wisdom, on Twitter, the miracle technology of celebdom. Pseudo-gods seek the pseudo-faithful as fervently as the reverse.

You have to be sure-footed to walk on air. The smallest ethereal miscalculation can bring you painfully down to earth. Shah Rukh Khan mobilized the resources of the Government of India when American customs and border security authorities treated him as just another human being.

This is not his first visit to the States, so there must have been some reason for the fact that this was the first time he was detained. As it turns out, the US government did have some reasonable questions about Shah Rukh’s hosts.

Old royalty used to treat an insult as high treason. What is fit punishment for the humiliation of modern divinity? A finger-wagging press conference by a mere cabinet minister seems inadequate for a mobile genius who charges crores of rupees for dancing at a wedding. Frenzy across content-starved TV channels is more like it, but we must not fetter our imagination. Perhaps India should recall its ambassador from Washington and abandon the nuclear deal unless the American secretary for homeland security is sacked?

No one likes racial profiling, even when done by an arbitrary computer. The incomparable computer seems to have not only altered the dimensions of time and space in our lives, but is now beginning to create a classless society of victims as well. Karl Marx would have been delighted by this communist child of capitalism. Shah Rukh has no complaint against the computer, however. He was furious at the inflexibility of the customs officer. Indian celebrities have created such a self-mesmerizing caste system of egos that they find any challenge difficult to comprehend.

Every celebrity is famous, but everyone famous is not a celebrity. Former president Abdul Kalam did not turn his cellphone into an advertising agency when confronted with an overzealous American security drill while boarding a commercial aircraft in Delhi, although he may have been within his rights to do so. President Kalam lived in the real world even when he was in Rashtrapati Bhawan. He knows that life is cluttered with glitches and inconsistencies. He shrugged in silence and boarded his flight.

Nor is racial profiling unique to the US. Every marital advertisements page in an Indian newspaper throws up multiple instances of colour-profiling. On the darker side, to stretch a metaphor, there is the unadvertised community-profiling in housing. People who are otherwise perfectly reasonable dread the possibility of conflict, micro or macro, with a neighbour who is not ‘One Of Us’.

Shah Rukh Khan was quick to deliver a slightly pompous sermon when his colleague in the film industry, Emraan Hashmi, complained recently that he was being denied a flat in an exclusive part of Mumbai because of his religious identity. Shah Rukh could have kept quiet, of course. But there are no brownie points for silence. You cannot be a celebrity if you do not celebrate your own importance at every opportunity. The superstar told the star to stop crying, grow up and so on. Why did Shah Rukh forget to give himself such advice when his imperial procession to Chicago was marginally interrupted? Instead, he wailed loud enough to be heard in Delhi.

Celebrities, who need a course in a National School of Drama, do need to be reminded that it helps to appreciate the limits of drama, particularly when you have arrived on the national stage. Acting becomes the only reality for some superstars, and their mind turns into an assembly line production house for scripted sentences. The dazzle of arc lamps blinds the star to the slippery ooze from the ego. You can slip so easily on it.

There will surely be more than one view on Emraan Hashmi’s search for upward mobility, and all sides will argue their case with perhaps more vigour than rigour. Hashmi is not yet capable of buying an independent bungalow, so all he can dream of is a better flat. But he is only pleading for a home. Shah Rukh Khan was demanding homage from the world. The difference is more than one of degree.
